Description: 
The spotted handfish was the first marine fish to be listed on the IUCN redlist as critically endangered. The species has suffered a catastrophic decline likely caused by habitat modification, pollution, historical scallop and oyster fisheries, and the introduced northern Pacific seastar. Regular surveys conducted by CSIRO aim to monitor this vulnerable species.
